The Everyday 2-Quart Sauce Pan From All-Clad's Original Tri-Ply Line
The 4202 is the 2-quart sauce pan with lid from All-Clad D3, the original tri-ply bonded line. An aluminum core between two layers of stainless steel spreads heat across the base and up the sides, so sauces, grains and reheated soup cook without scorching. The stainless interior will not react with tomato or wine. Oven and broiler safe to 600°F, induction ready, made in Canonsburg, PA.

Why the 2-Qt Is the Pan You Use Most
Small sauce pans tend to be thin, so rice catches and sauces scorch on the bottom. The 4202 is fully bonded tri-ply, the same build as All-Clad's larger pieces.
- The right size for everyday cooking. Rice for four, oatmeal, a pan sauce or reheated leftovers.
- Three bonded layers, rim to rim. An aluminum core sits between two layers of stainless steel and is bonded all the way up the sides, so heat spreads evenly across the base and walls.
- An 18/10 stainless cooking surface. The polished starburst interior resists sticking, cleans up easily and does not react with acidic foods.
- Works on every cooktop, including induction. The magnetic stainless exterior works on gas, electric, ceramic and induction.
- Oven and broiler safe to 600°F. Brown on the stovetop and finish in the oven in the same pan.
- Riveted stainless handles. Permanently attached with stainless rivets and contoured for a secure grip.
- Made in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania. All-Clad has bonded cookware there since 1971, and D3 is the line that started it.
- Stainless lid included. Fits snugly to hold in heat and moisture.

Use and Care
The short version. The All-Clad use and care guide has the full details.
- Preheat, then add fat. Heat the empty pan over medium for a minute or two, then add oil or butter. Stainless releases food far better once it is hot.
- Stay at medium. Bonded cookware spreads heat well, so medium does the work high heat does on a thinner pan. Save high heat for boiling water.
- Let food release. Proteins stick at first and let go once a crust forms. Wait for that before you turn them.
- Cool, then clean. Let the pan cool before it meets water. Wash with warm soapy water, and use a fine powdered cleanser and a nylon pad for stuck food or rainbow tint. Skip steel wool and bleach.
